Re: 13th October 2018

MM

The AWS has put another inch on since 10z - consecutive days with an inch or more, doesn't happen often!

Since the rain started yesterday (late a.m.) the AWS has had 83.4 mm (slightly less in the gauge) - could be looking at a 100mm rainfall event!

100 cm soil thermom

An old rant - I have an old Russell Scientific 100cm soil thermom, never let me down. I have had two from the Met'O - in both, in not too great a timescale, the thermom as been left at the bottom of the tube. The glue perishes and the thermom comes away/out of its cap. Guess what happened today for ...

Yes a beautiful day - 22.4c - not an Oct' record for me (still the 1st in 2011 at 24.7c).

However, you have all forgotten something - what is the latest date in the year to have recorded 20c?

For me, it is now today - adds 4 days on to the record

50.8 MM
That is my eighth wettest day in 12 yrs, but only the second wettest September day
A bit bizarre that two of my top eight wettest days are in September

Rain at its heaviest around 1030 p.m.

Person v Machine

You notice that I said 'person' and not 'man'! anyway, if there is one thing that bugs me it is when an automated site, Met'O or EA, has a fault, a problem or just goes wrong. the end result = missing data = estimated figures = inaccuracy. And I don't like it. How quickly are these 'problems' sorted...

MM - overcast

Soil thermoms have had their first 'cross over' of the season

30 = 14.5c
100 = 14.6c

when you think of all the possible 'signs' of autumn, this for me is one of them.

Re: Summer 2018

The summer of 2018 will be remembered as having been hot, sunny and dry and that is despite August failing to live up to the standard set by June and July. However, how did this summer compare locally to previous ones? The Met’ Office have already stated that summer 2018 is the warmest on record in ...

MM - showery

Parity in the ground, both at 14.8c

First GF of the season -1.2c

For a third successive morning the WB was 9.0c, but at least it was lower than the DB!
But after the other day and being 9.0c for x3 days running, I warmed it up just to make sure it wasn't stuck!
