Video of the frozen Lake in that famous winter. Lack of snow evident compared to rest of country.

Ahhh..distant memories I remember that winter well.
Living at Dalston at the time near the river Caldew which
was totally frozen, and walking my dog on it. Not much
snow but bitter frosts.
