Caught a brief glimpse of the front page of the Herald this morning. If i have read it correctly, Cumbria county council are creating web acess to their AWS data and road side cameras for winter.

Sounds great, if true.

I missed that one - YES a great idea.

Apparently some councils have GPS tracking in their gritters and they overlay it on a map so you can see where they are !! and also tweet when a road is done - progress. NOt sure if the drivers would agree mind, knowing some of them

Durham have their AWS with webcams online now, hopefully Cumbria will follow.

showing 78mph for shap, take it thats gust speed

interestingly much higher than the 45mph at the MetOf shap site

even more exposed i think?

extreme!

53mph at Met O site at 23:00

here top gust 43.4mph

Not sure how accurate the wind speeds are? Appear higher than expected at kirkstone and Shap compared to GDF.
