It may not have been the case for the last few years, but the most reliable Buchan (cold) spell looks like making a return this year:

Monday 5 February—Sunday 11 February

Turning settled

At first we will hold on to the mix of bands of rain, sunshine and showers, which could be wintry at times.
Later in the week we are likely to see high pressure dominating, leading to lights winds, frosty nights and largely dry conditions, though we could see a few snow showers in the east.

Outlook from the Metoffice

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days
UK Outlook for Tuesday 13 Feb 2018 to Thursday 22 Feb 2018:
Through mid February it will remain unsettled and generally cold. Tuesday will see rain, sleet and snow pushing in from the west, followed by sunshine and wintry showers in the northwest. Winds will be strong and gusty with gales in places. Further wet weather will arrive through Wednesday bringing slightly less cold air, but snow and ice remains a risk in northern areas. The rest of the week will continue to see a mix of slightly less cold interludes with rain, strong winds and some snow and ice, followed by colder but brighter spells with wintry showers. Winds will often be strong, giving a significant wind chill. Towards the end of this period, it may turn more settled with more prolonged drier, colder and frosty weather, especially in the north.

UK Outlook for Friday 23 Feb 2018 to Friday 9 Mar 2018:
Through the remainder of February it will stay cold but the weather may be drier and more settled with widespread frost overnight. This could last for a while, with a greater chance of easterly winds which will bring some very cold weather at times. Into early March, the cold weather is likely to continue, although we may see some short-lived changeable spells bringing the risk of snow in places. With the cold weather persisting, temperatures are likely to remain below normal throughout.

Just about the coldest outlook messages I have seen from the met office

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days
UK Outlook for Saturday 24 Feb 2018 to Monday 5 Mar 2018:
The weekend will be mostly dry, with frost and freezing fog patches clearing to give cold days with sunny spells. Snow flurries may develop across eastern and southern areas where a brisk easterly wind will make it feel bitterly cold. It may be less cold in the far northwest with some rain possible. Into next week it is likely to turn colder with brisk easterly winds, giving a significant wind chill, especially in the south and east. This will give the risk of further snow flurries, which may become heavier and more widespread. There is also the risk of more significant snow pushing northeastwards across southern and some central areas. The north and west will be brighter, and it may be less cold across the far northwest at times.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 6 Mar 2018 to Tuesday 20 Mar 2018:
At the start of this period it is likely to remain cold or very cold for many with widespread frost and brisk easterly winds from Continental Europe, making it feel raw. This will continue to bring the risk of significant snow across some southern, eastern and central parts of the country, whereas towards the north and west it will start drier. As we head through the middle of March, there is a lot of uncertainty in the forecast, but it may start to turn more unsettled and less cold with the wettest and mildest weather spreading in from the southwest. In contrast, northern and eastern areas could remain colder well into March.
