NOVEMBER ICE DAYS

Post by darrog » Wed Nov 24, 2010 7:02 pm

Have had the one ice day in Nov' - not bad I feel with 2010 only being the 4th Nov' for which I have records at MM

-0.9c on 30.11.2008.

A day of fog with light overnight snow (0.3mm) into 1.12.08.

How common have they been in the past?

Had 2 ice days in November in the past 20 years.

-2.1c in 2008. Think it was due to thick fog all day.

Not that common. I can rememer the cold spell of November 1993 well. A few inches of snow never melted for a few days. Light easterl wind, very nice.

Just checked lowest max of -2.7C at Shap, -4.0C at Warcop Range. Mins down to -11C.

Nov 1973 was another notale cold spell.
