I now have data that gives a total of 7.2mm from one site for September - but enq's are being made and some further QC done before confirmation.

I have now seen data from one site giving just ...... 5.6 mm in September.

However, it is the same site as the 7.2 mm - basically one is an EA reading and the other is Met'O (which is still provisional)!.

I am awaiting a reply from the EA about this and will let you know.

however, the site is ........... Newton Rigg.

PAUL- can you e-mail your Met'O contact to verify the same Q that I have asked the EA - below:

Because of my ignorance could I ask a daft Q – the rainfall figures that you supply for Newton Rigg and the total that the Met’O quote on their Historic station data page for Newton Rigg don’t match from month to month.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/pub/data/we ... ggdata.txt

are the totals all derived from the same gauge of do you have your own gauge and the Met’O have their own at the same site?
If it is the same gauge then the only explanation for the difference in totals would be the use of different terminal hours, eg: one at midnight-midnight and another at 0900-0900GMT.

Darren

Yes will ask - I think there are two gauges from memory

EA automatic gauge and a Standard Gauge

This was of course prior to it becoming an automatic station like it is now

I have emailed my contact and awaiting reply

The Meto data should arrive in the next few days aswell

Official Met Office Data - released today ( all subject to final QC )

Walney- 4.8mm
Newton Rigg - 5.6mm
Warcop 7.6mm
Levens - 8.0mm

With this in mind I am now guessing that some rainfall station in and around the Barrow area may have the lowest. But at this stage congratulations to Walney ! :D RAi UMB
