Rainfall records at Newton Rigg commenced 1900

This is were stats can be used to whatever purpose you chose, so pick and average, anyone will do:

1900 - 2017 = 927.5 mm
1900 - 1999 = 917.0 mm
2000 - 2017 = 984.6 mm

The current statistical mean of 1981-2010 is 946.7 mm

Which one did you go for?

Not sure

What is the mean from 1900-2017- the whole series

Then split it into 20, 25, 50 year sections.

If you send me the yearly data I dont mind having a fiddle on excel
