Here's my report for dismal July!
Anne

July 2010 followed the trend of the last few Julys being cooler, wetter and windier than average. Although most days struggled to highest temperatures of just over 20C, the maximum for the month was only 22.6C on the 14th. The highest temperature on the 22nd was only 15.3C. Night time temperatures were not low except for the 23rd with a minimum of 4.8C. It was a windy month, specially during the middle two weeks.

The total rainfall for July was 116.2mm, which is well above the average. July's rainfall was much more than April, May and June put together. There were only 10 dry days during the month and it rained every day from the 13th to the 21st. Apparently it only takes an announcement of a hosepipe ban to bring on the rain!

Paul - Carl and those with both Vpro2 and standard equip'

this question does not mean that i'm about to price up a Stevenson and equipment!

Quite naturally you will submit your monthly figures based on the standard readings and not the Vpro2 data - so how do the two compare re readings, in particular temperature.
Obviously you wouldn't be using the 'integration' method with standard and will rely on sum total divided by 30/31????

Hopefully you will have familiarised yourself with Burts comparison of the two, he is very complimentary of the Vpro2 in all aspects, but less so re rainfall.

Here are my figures for August so you can see the difference:
Davis/S.Screen Davis/S.Screen
Max Max Min Min
20.1 20.3 9.5 8.9
20.6 21.8 12.9 12.7
19.2 19.9 12.2 11.9
20.1 19.9 10.8 11.6
9.2 8.6

The Stevenson on average has a higher Max with a lower Min.
so the average balances things.

Here is my comparison

VP2 Max 20.7c 14th
Met 21.0c 14th

VP2 Min 6.0c 22nd
Met 5.8c 23rd

VP2 Mean Max 18.0
Met 18.7 (notable higher ?)

VP2 Mean Min 11.9
Met 11.9

VP2 Mean 15.0
Met 15.3

Low Max and High Min exactly the same :D

Rainfall
VP2 114.6
Met 118.6

I am happy with the VP2 - for me its an additional guide to live weather rather than relying on it totally for data. Will have to see if I can compare a yearss data next ?
