Inital report for Winter 2014/15

Using Average of 2000-2014

Mean max 6.4c (-0.5c)
Mean Min 1.5c ( (+0.2c)
Mean 4.1c ( -0.2c)

Rainfall 310.9mm or 125%
Wettest Day 29.2mm 22nd December 2014

Sunshine 107.9hrs or 86% of average

Snow lying at 0900hrs - 21days
Max depth at 0900hrs 16cm 29th January ( Increased to approx 18cm later that day 11am, before sinking to 13cm the following morning )

Days with air frost 28 - compared with zero last year, what a difference

Interesting the TV is saying it has been the sunniest winter on record. Obviously another of those things that doesn't apply to Cumbria!

Twas a lot sunnier than last winter! But that wasn't difficult.

Mean max 7.6c +0.5
Mean min 2.9c +0.7
Mean 5.2c +0.6
Rain 294.6 102%

Temperatures a bit above normal.

any theories explaining why?

Altitude for me - my deep snowfall will have decreased temperatures in general, even in bright sunshine ?

Suspect that Carl and Bill may have been recording data longer and therefore had far worse February's that the last one ?
