To all

Unfortunately the company that host this website have stated they intend to shut down the site in 4 days time. I currently rent out some space on a server from a good friend at low cost. It appears that this may now come to an end and is beyond my control.

I will keep you posted and will try and move the site elsewhere.

Paul

would be a great shame! hopefully a new alternative can be found.

Is there any way you can save a copy of the website so all our observations, reports etc aren't lost forever?

Update

I still havent heard if my hosting will stop

I have decided to move the website to another hosting company. Unfortunatley I dont really have the IT skills to setup the forum again. I am seeking help but as yet non forthcoming.

Does anyone on here have some really good knowledge of moving a phpBB website !!

If it does go through I will be amazed. I have back up the database a few days ago and will do again tomorrow. Please feel free to go through any important bits on here and save them yourself

cheers for now

Paul

Update

I have purchased some new hosting which I will have full control

However I will need to download and transfer the forum data and files which will be my main area of concern

I intend to move the files over the weekend - hopefully he forum will continue to work until then

May I ask not to upload anything from now on, just the daily weather messages

thanks

Paul

If you need any extra help, looking at the weather, I'll have time on my hand this weekend. Alas though, my experience with online forums is zilch, but I am at least one IT step above from switching things off and on again or hitting items with a hammer!

Update Saturday

I was unable to move the forum today, so I have left it as it is for the time being. Will try again on Monday or Tuesday

The deadline of 4 days has elapsed so I am guessing the threat of closure has eased for the time being. Either way I will still be moving it in order to have full control

Thanks

Update

I attempted to move the forum but it didnt work

Fortunately the old one is still in its place and functioning OK

Please continue to use the forum but please upload any files or photos and just use the daily messages

I need to go away, lay down and have a rethink

Update 19th October

The current hosting company has overcome its issues and the forum will be stable. However in the long run I still need to move it. But it wont be carried out now until the end of the month at the earliest. Please continue to use the forum as normal

Thankyou
