Paul, some interesting points

Our rainfall anomaly is the same (115%)

Mean Max identical

My Mean Min 0.2c higher but 6 more Air Frosts

7 extra Thunder days here

Snow amount pretty similar

Sunshine anomaly the same 93% v 94%

Wind speeds and gusts very similar with dom direction SW

Only notable differences are in totals of sunshine and rainfall, Im sunnier and wetter, a rather unusual pattern that occurs across much of england! esp the far south.

I thinks its quite re-assuring its similar, which shows at least our equipment and recording methods are OK

I am happy with higher rainfall for you, definite dryer spot here ( rain shadow) and thunder, yes your again better located nearer the fells

Sunshine - what kind of recorder have you got

Paul - I think that you have most points covered, but you will want MSLP (mean/high/low).

MY MSLP (09z) was 1009.7 Hpa - which based on the local mean of Newton Rigg is -3.6 below average.

Don't forget to calculate your wettest day as a % of the annual total - mine is very low this year at just 2.55%

also for rain don't forget the number of days 5mm+ 10mm+ and 1"+

WIND - include your windiest day - my windiest day (7th Jan at 22.3 mph) didn't include the high gust this year (61 Mph on 12th Feb)

CLOUD - I also include mean % cover, days 100% cover and days clear at 09z.

going further off track, but included in my own annual summary will be:

RAIN - No. of months drier/wetter than average
TEMP - No. of months warmer(11)/colder(1) than average and No. of months with a departure of +/-1.0c from the average.

Rainfall Anomalies

I have noticed one little point that could be a curiosity, but I will only really know once the rainfall totals for December for the Met'O sites are in.
But making a few assumptions about the Dec' rainfall, the Met'O sites at Shap, Keswick, Warcop and NR would suggest to expect an annual anomaly of 110-115% - very much what you have seemed to have experienced.
I also with x6 years full data (2008-13) prior to this year have had 110.4% ***.

The apparent anomaly comes at the EA sites:
Brothers Water - 130.9%
Seathwaite Farm - 124.2%
Nunwick Hall - 117.3&
Kirkby Thore - 124.0%

Far greater anomalies and NunHall and KT are more my neck of the woods - I will ponder as to why.

*** So with 7.5 yrs worth of rainfall data - so just six years with which to compare 2014 - my rainfall is 'suggesting' that it has reached a comparability!!?
