I have just been doing some rainfall research for Darren

April 1974 appears to have been very dry

Temple Sowerby- 0, nil, zero
Appleby - 1mm
Penrith - 1mm
Anthorn - 6mm
Honister 10mm !!

Wonder what happened that month

where the hell is Anthorn?

I have:

Appleby 0.9 mm -
Newton Rigg 1.8 mm - driest in series back to 1914
Orton 3.0 mm

For Appleby this was not just the driest April in a series back to 1857, but the driest of any month in that time.
It is one of nine with less that 5.0mm of rainfall

Anthorn - my neck of the woods where the radar masts are.
Paul where did you get that data from?

Carlisle 14 MU had 6.0mm that month.
