Who needs models.

Manflu - cracking springlike weekend, struggle to do much.

Birthday weekend, taking a couple of days off - guarenteed wind and rain.

As expected things are turning more unsettled and colder now as a zonal pattern becomes established across the Atlantic, todays polar maritime air is cold but not cold enough for low level snow, however, two things happen in the next 72 hours.

Firstly, the next frontal system associated with the next Atlantic low will meet cold air over Cumbria on Sunday and could give a period of snow before milder air turns it to rain. Of more interest is the much colder air sweeping in behind these fronts on Monday which should be cold enough for snow showers which could give accumulations especially on high ground.

Monday mornings chart above.

The MetO have now issued Weather Warnings for both these events so watch keep an eye on the forecast and then the radar!

In the longer term we have clear signs for the Azores High to build from the south bringing an early taste of Spring, that's nearly 10 days away but if you like cold weather make the most of the next week!!

Looks like Spring is now on hold as there is a trend for cooler weather next week. Talk of snow in some groups, but not overly convinced myself ?
