29th December 2017

Post by Andy Woodcock » Fri Dec 29, 2017 9:00 am

Snowy morning in Plumpton with 2cms lying and moderate snow falling temperature -0.1c.

Doubt it will last long with milder air moving in but at least I should get a day with lying snow at 9am.

Maximum yesterday 2.3c so warmer than Wednesday.

Andy

Up early in anticipation, disappointed once again.

Everything was white with frost at 7am, had a very brief spell of rain with occ sleet around 8am which froze. Since then nothing, gradual thaw of the frost, but grass is still whitish. I really get fed up with this at times. As other members have said, radar indicates that it should be doing something but nothing. Solway triangle in full effect. May be a good while before there is another opportunity for snow

Temp now 2.3c dewpoint 0.3c

Max 2.7c/Min -0.2c
Grass Min -5.0c
Sunshine 2.8hrs
Rainfall trace

(barely managed an air frost last night)

My parents have snow in Arnside, right on the coast at 50ft.

It makes my blood boil

Nothing more than some light sleety rain here. As usual a total failure here with fronts approaching from the sw and surface se winds.
