Well the week ahead doesnt look promising for cold fans like me.

Cloudy and damp sums it up with a gentle cool down towards Saturday

As it stands at the moment I can see any chance of snow throughout the whole of January - we could have a long spell of cool and cloudy weather before it comes more mobile again

This chart to me says FOG ?? cool and cloudy with a slight continental drift

looks OK to me, settled, hopefully if the cloud breaks up gradually it will allow for some cooler, sunnier days with frost?

could be much worse than high pressure in control.

mild wet windy weather is awful. mild, calm dry weather is reasonable.

Must be curtains this year for the Scottish Ski industry

Still no change, cooler and drier at the weekend before the High finally gives up and allows the Atlantic to creep back in. If you want cold weather the current set up is hopeless as the UK is stuck in a mild sector between cold weather over Europe and cold weather over the north west Atlantic.

If the High moved away zonality could returned with its associated milder and colder spells but the models predict the High will move just far enough away for south westerlies on its western flank to sweep north east across the UK.

Not good.

One of the fabled SSW may occur 29th Jan - but will it make in any difference to our weather

Outlook for the week ahead looks dry. Temp 8c by day 2-3c by night - I thought the Atlantic was due to push back in

It keeps getting pushed back Paul but this just prolongs the stalemate.

I suppose this weather is better than wind and rain but it reduces the chance of any wintry weather in the foreseeable future to zero.

A friend of mine has just returned from Benidorm, he went to get some winter sun but saw more snow than he had seen in years, the beach in the resort was completed covered for the first time since 1926 and temperatures have been at record low levels.

Meanwhile back in the UK the non winter continues and looking at this mornings model output this will continue for some time yet.

The SSW is back being talked about

This is my thought, week or wet and windy weather starting Sunday, then a cold and snowy spell second week of February

( It will be just as accurate as watching weather models)

I did note on the BBc local forecast 1855hrs today for Saturday I think it was a blob of snow over Central lakes - may be a some hill snow around
