2017 was a generally mild year with a disappointing summer, although the start of the year was warmer and drier. It was the 6th wettest year I have recorded since 1987 with a total of 1070mm.

From January to May (except March) a drier than average period which started in October 2016 continued. January, April and May were much drier than average. It was also warmer than average in February, March and May.

June to September brought cooler than average and very wet weather. The summer months (June, July and August) were all much wetter than normal with a total rainfall of 390mm, the second wettest summer I have recorded since 1987 (wettest was 2012). September was also very wet.

The last three months had average rainfall and although October was quite mild, December was cooler than average.

Anne (edited to add total rainfall ... ooops!)

That's a really neat summary, Paul. Easy to understand, even for non weather enthusiasts. Think I might try something similar. What program did you use to design the layout?
