October 2019

Post by Anne » Sat Nov 02, 2019 11:47 am

October was a cooler than average month with a very wet start. The average daily maximum temperature was 1.3C below the normal for October. The highest temperature was only 15.6C on the 14th. This is the lowest October maximum in my 32 years of records in Scotby. There were four air frosts on the last four nights of the month, the lowest temperature being -2.2C on the 29th.

The total rainfall for October was 114.6mm, which is a little above the monthly average. However much of the rain fell during the first two weeks of the month and by the 16th there had already been 97mm. There were no dry days from the 1st to the 16th but there were 9 days with virtually no rain from the 17th to 31st. The wettest day was the 1st with 37.4mm.
