December was milder than average and also dryer than average. The average daily maximum temperature was 8.3C, which is about 1C warmer than normal but by no means the warmest December in my records. The warmest day was the 10th with a high of 12.8C. There were only 3 air frosts on the first two and last nights of the month. The coldest night was the 1st with a low of -5.3C.

The total rainfall for December was 77.4mm, which is about 20mm less than the average over the last 33 years. The rainfall was fairly evenly spread through the month, although it was a little dryer towards the end of the month. There was no snow in Scotby during December.

Another wet month for those of us in the south of the county facing Morecambe Bay.
After a dry beginning we had rain on most days till Christmas. 34mm, 32mm, and 28mm were the wettest days in the middle of the month.
Rainfall total 232mm, wettest month since August 2019
