Met' Office Climate/Synoptic Stations - down the years

Post by darrog » Fri Nov 13, 2015 5:43 pm

It could be quite useful to have a list of Met Office stns down the years and the period in which they were operational.
We know the present day stns (if not the date from which they commenced), I will post what I know soon.

This came about when I discovered that during the climatologic period of 1941-70 Cumbria did not have a single stn that was fully operational for the entire period.
The nearest that we get is:

Ambleside - (1941-43) + (45-46) + (49-70)

Newton Rigg - (1941-47) + (51-70).

Can't blame it all the war?
