VP2 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
After a month of exceptional low humidity readings I have decided that the sensor has failed again. This is my third failure. I can live without humidity but I thing the air temperature reading is also now a little out, this has effect on the calculated dewpoint figure which is handy for snow forecasting ( if it ever snows again)
The new sensor from Davis is very expensive in excess of £150 for a bit of plastic, circuit board and mesh
I have decided to give something else a go. Its a home build kind of probe which fits in the same place as the traditional VP2

Hopefully should arrive tomorrow, will let you know how I get on

Re: VP2 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
Well after having to change my sensor in November, I'm interested to see if that Ebay alternative works.

Re: VP2 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
I have/had the same problem as Paul, but luckily I kept the old sensor and
gave it a good clean, tried it our yesterday and bingo it works fine. For how long
I don't know so will be interesting to see what Paul makes of the new one.

Re: VP2 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
New sensor fitted this afternoon
Its a bit tricky removing the white section, normally falls apart for me
Sensor has been fitted but lack a wire connection to hold it in place on the VP2 - had to use a cable tie and screw it into place, not overally happy with this, but until I can find an laternative it will have to do. I am going to email the seller to see what he suggests as there was no mention of this on the instructions or Ebay sale site.
Going to leave now to settle down and see what the readings are like, so if you read this I could do with some regular humidity readings please
1730hrs 75%
Temp 3.4c
Dewpoint 1.1
thanks

Re: VP2 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
Well it looks like the new sensor is working well and RH has returned to what I would describe as normal values.
I have also removed the slight "gain" on the Davis Console for temps showing higher than my screen, it was set at +0.5c. Its been recalculated at 0. Will check again in the morning with the Dry Bulb reading at 0900hrs.
Also the maker of the sensor forgot to send a small wire clip, this has arrived today. So I will need to remove my clip and replace with correct version.
