My steel cored lighting radar mast has just snapped. Hopefully no damage to the antenna, but it is now out of action.

Clearly a poor day in Cumbria, looking at the stats an Amber warning for Rain should have been issued which appears to have caused more problems than the wind

Wind Gusts

Great Dun Fell 97mph

Warcop 65mph

Walney 63mph

Spadeadam 61mph

Carlisle Airport 61mph

St Bees 61mph

Keswick 55mph

Rainfall (last 24hrs so not a true 0900-0900hr totals) but gives an idea on the volume of water

Shap (Met office) - 125.8mm

Shap Village 125.8mm

Keswick 99mm

Warcop - 54.8mm

Spadeadam 54mm

Carlisle 27mm

St Bees 26mm

Those figures for Shap and Possibley Keswick could be record breaking for February ?

MM - my daily total for the 8th was 89.6 mm

this is the second wettest day that I have recorded.
probably added another 5-6 mm today

February will represent the 9th consecutive month, going back to June, to have add 100mm+ of rain - most definitely a record.

just managed a gale this afternoon between 1440-1450z
